Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium (PP) and Early Year Pupil Premium (EYPP) - What is it?

Publicly-funded schools in England get extra funding from the government to help them improve the attainment of their disadvantaged pupils.

Evidence shows that children from disadvantaged backgrounds:

  • generally face extra challenges in reaching their potential at school
  • often do not perform as well as their peers

The pupil premium grant is designed to allow schools to help disadvantaged pupils by improving their progress and the exam results they achieve.  As with every child in our care, a child who is eligible for the Pupil Premium Grant is valued, respected and entitled to develop to his or her full potential, irrespective of need. The PP grant is used on approaches shown to be effective in improving the achievement and opportunities for disadvantaged pupils.

This echoes our mission statement: 'Happy Hearts, Open Minds, Bright Futures'.

At Fladbury we receive the PPG for every child in school who is, or has been, registered for Free School Meals, who is a Looked After Child, who is a Post-Looked After Child or who has a parent in the Armed Forces.

Pupils who are entitled to PP funding receive additional support in some of the following ways:

  • An annual uniform voucher
  • A contribution to trips and events
  • A contribution to enrichment activities, such as after school clubs
  • Free daily child's serving of milk
  • Targeted support during class times

If you think that your child may be eligible for Free School Meals (even if they prefer to bring in their own packed lunch each day) please claim. This will be confidential and your child will not be identified or discriminated against in any way but it will help to provide additional funds to support them at school.

Please read the information on our strategy which gives details of our PPG - how we allocate the funding and the impact on our disadvantaged pupils.
