Oak

Welcome to Oak Class!

Welcome to the new Spring Term 2021. Happy New Year!

Spring Term- 'Marvellous Mountains'

We will be exploring how mountains are formed and learning about some famous mountain ranges such as the Andes and the Alps. As well as the physical aspect of this Geography based topic, we will also explore the human Geography by looking at what it's like to live in the mountains. We will be learning about the Water Cycle in Science which links nicely with this topic.

Our English learning will be centred on the beautiful picture book, 'The Rhythm of the Rain' by Grahame Baker-Smith where we will be focusing on using prepositions and adverbs in our writing.

We will be continuing with Multiplication and Division in Maths. Year 3 will be learning thier 3x, 4x and 8x tables and Year 4 will be learning them all up to 12x12.

In RE, we will be learning about Islam. Our learning will be focused around the key question, 'How do Festivals and Worship show what matters to a Muslim?'

PSHE will continue weekly, the children's wellbeing is still a top priotiry for us all at Fladbury.

PE will take place on Wednesday afternoons. This will take place outdoors so please come to school wearing a warm, suitable PE kit to school on that day (tracksuit, t-shirt, jumper and trainers).

Oak will have Outdoor Learning on a Tuesday morning with Miss Wilson, where they will be taking part in team-building activities. Please also come to school in your Forest School kit, with your wellies in a named bag.

Spelling tests will be on Fridays, please practice your words daily in readiness for this and bring your yellow spelling folders in too!

Reading books need to be taken home and brought back into school everyday but only changed on a Monday so they can be quarantined before being put back into circulation. Read books are kept in the children's drawers until Monday.

Communication can take place through Tapestry or by making an appointment through the Office.

Many thanks!

Miss Bailey
