Elm Class Gallery

                                                                              Elm Class 2024-25

We enjoy spending time in our forest school area building, playing, and working as a team.

We created some beautiful sculptures using natural objects, inspired by the work of Andy Goldsworthy.

We visited Cheltenham Literature Festival in October, and listened to Catherine Rayner read some of her picture books. She taught us how to draw a panda, and even showed us inside her secret sketchbook!

We celebrated European Day of Languages in September by dressing in the colours of the Greek flag, learning Greek phrases, and tasting some Greek food. Some of us thought it was delicious... some didn't!

We've been studying the work of sculptor Andy Goldsworthy, and have been experimenting with making our own patterns and lines with natural materials.

We use lots of practical resources in maths to deepen our understanding of number and place value.

We've spent lots of time exploring our new classroom and resources. We've built forests, bonfires, the night sky, and even Noah's Ark!

We still love exploring, creating, building, and playing in our Forest School area.

We planted and took care of our own sunflower seeds. We can't wait to see how tall they will grow!

This term, we have been studying plants. We have used magnifying glasses to examine them closely, and made detailed drawings of our observations.

Our focus artist this term was Picasso. We have created our own portraits inspired by his work.

We dressed up in some amazing costumes on World Book Day, and enjoyed reading lots of different stories.

We took part in a litter-picking workshop in March, and cleaned up our local area. We found some pieces of rubbish that were over 30 years old!

In DT this term we have made sandwiches...

... and delicious fruit jellies.

We love role-playing, exploring, and being creative in our Forest School area.

In Design Technology, we have been designing, making and evaluating sliders and levers

We have been investigating everyday materials during our science lessons. We found out which materials were the most protective during our Egg Drop Challenge!

In art, we have been looking at the work of Harriet Peck Taylor and creating our own nature-inspired batiks.

In English, we explored the story Who's Afraid of the Light? by Anna McGregor. We then thought of our own deep-sea creatures, wrote some amazing descriptions, and put them together to make our own midnight zone aquarium.

We have been learning how to program simple robots called Bee-Bots by giving them a set of commands.

In maths, we use concrete resources to support our learning. Here we are using Base 10 to partition 2-digit numbers into tens and ones.

We love exploring our outdoor learning area!
