Welcome to Oak Class!

Miss Bailey is our class teacher and Miss Hill is our teaching assistant. We currently have 30 Year 3 and 4 children.

Our new topic over the Summer Term is - Ancient Egypt

We will be learning all about this early civilisation and how they lived (and died!). We will be exploring the discovery of Tutanhkhmun, the importance of the River Nile, experimenting with Egyptian hieroglyohs and learning about the inevitable mummification process!

  • In English we will be writing our own Egyptian Cinderella stories.
  • In Maths we will be continuing our learning on fractions and decimals and moving onto measurement (solving money problems, telling and writing the time and calculating the area, length and perimeter of shapes).
  • We will be thinking about the question 'What kind of a world did Jesus want' in RE.
  • Making Egyptian bread and burial tombs in Design and Technology.
  • Learning about forces and magnets through experiments and investigations in Science.
  • Conintuing to learn about different suffixes and prefixes in SPaG as well as learning when to use a possessive plural apostrophe in our writing.

As our class contains the older children we have lots of extra responsibilities. Some of our Year 4 children are House Captains. The children of Oak class also have representatives on the School Council and Eco-School Council.

PE is on Friday afternoons where we will be heading onto the field to make the most of the open space. We will be enjoying atheletics and Bell boating during these times! Please remember to bring hats and sun cream on warm days.

Quick reminders:

  • Spelling tests and new spellings take place on a Friday
  • PE kit to be labelled and in school on a Friday
  • Water bottles labelled and to be brought in everyday
