Elm

WELCOME TO ELM CLASS

Our Class teacher is Miss Zoe Pettit and she is also the Assistant Head Teacher.  Our teaching assistant is Mrs Claire Leaver

Elm is a mixed Reception/Year 1 class. There are currently 27 children in Elm.

We are looking forward to a busy but exciting year ahead. We will be starting with the topic of ‘Bears’. The children will have opportunity to:

  • Share our class text 'Paddington'. In which the children will write labels and fact files, leading onto instruction writing.
  • Share different bear themed stories including Paddington Bear, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, Biscuit Bear.
  •  Design and make their own sandwiches.
  •   Create observational drawings of London landmarks and collage different scenes.
  •   Look at what basic survival skills Bears and animals need for survival. Alongside this we will look at what type of clothes you will need for different weather.
  •   In RE Elm will be looking at ‘Why is the word God important to Christians?’.

Just a quick reminder:

  • PE kit to be in school on a Friday.
  • Year 1 spelling test on a Friday.
  • Reception - new sounds learnt will come home on a Friday.
  • Forest School is on a Thursday. Please send your child to school in old clothes.
  • Water bottles and book bags need to be in school every day.

Billy the Bear

Billy the Bear, has started  on his travels around Elm Class. He is looking forward to spending a week with each of the children at home. He will come with a diary to record what he gets up to. It may be things such as reading a book, or meeting your child’s toys.

My door is always open if you have any questions I can help you with. I'm looking forward to a busy Autumn Term together.
