Welcome to Willow Class

 

Miss Bailey is our teacher.
There are currently 15 children in Year 3.

Spring Term 

Our Topic this term is 'Iron Age to Stone Age'!

  • In English we have been recounting our class trip to 'Bishop's Wood' where we were able to experience life in the Stone Age and touch some incredible artefacts. We used fronted adverbials and paragraphs to organsie our writing. 
  • We are now reading the beautifully illustrated fiction book, 'Stone Age Boy' with the view to write our own Stone Age narratives!
  • In Maths we will be learning about measure, converting between mm, cm and m and measuring the perimeter of a simple 2D shape.  
  • In RE we will be thinking about the question, 'Why do people pray?' in relation to Christianity, Islam and Hinduism. 
  • In Topic we will learn about the changes in prehistoric Britain that occurred between the Stone Age to the Bronze Age and finally the Iron Age. Looking at Skara Brae, Stonehenge and hillforts in particular.  
  • In Science we will be learning about Animals including humans, looking at skeletons, muscles, vertebrates, invertebrates and nutrition.  
  • In Art we will be developing our painting skills by creating cave paintings and then sculptuing Neolithic pottery using clay. 
  • In PE we will be swimming this term and creating symmetrical and asymmetrical shapes in Gymnastics.
  • In PSHE we will be thinking about how 'Don't rub it in, rub it out!'. 

Miss Wilson will be teaching us Music and French on a Thursday morning. 

A few reminders:

  • Swimming will take place on a Monday morning, please could children make sure they bring thier swimming kits for then. 
  • Named water bottles to be in everyday, filled with water. 
  • Named PE kits to be in on Fridays.
  • Spelling tests happen every Friday.
  • Homework is set on a Friday, due in the following Thursday.
