Oak

Welcome to Oak Class!

Miss Bailey is our class teacher and Miss Hill is our teaching assistant. We currently have 16 Year 4 children.

Our new topic over the Summer Term is - Fabulous Fladbury!

Our new value is 'Wisdom'.

We will be learning all about our local area, starting with its local history!

  • In English we will be writing setting descriptions of a Victorian Workhouse and a narrative based on the moving historical novel 'Street Child' by Berlie Doherty.
  • In Maths we will be learning more about Decimals, Money, Time, Statistics and Geometry! As well as continueing with improving our times table knowledge!
  • We will be thinking about the question, 'Why are festivals important to religious communities?' We will be focusing on Easter, Divali in Hinduism and Pesach in Judaism.
  • In PSHE, we wil be thinking about how important it is to let love in!
  • Learning about 'Living Things and Their Habitats' in Science, thinking about what thrives in our local area and going on an invertebrate hunt!
  • Athletics will take place on the field ready for Sport's Day as well as spending some time on the river bellboating!

As our class contains the older children we have lots of extra responsibilities. Some of our Year 4 children are House Captains. The children of Oak class also have representatives on the School Council and Eco-School Council.

PE will be on Friday afternoons during the Summer Term.

Quick reminders:

  • Spelling tests and new spellings take place on a Friday.
  • PE kit to be labelled and in school on a Friday.
  • Water bottles labelled and to be brought in everyday.
