Welcome to Oak Class!

Miss Bailey is our class teacher and Miss Hill is our teaching assistant. We currently have 17 Year 4 children.

Our new topic over the Autumn Term is - Chocolate!

We will be learning all about it's discovery and how important it was to the Ancient Mayan civilisation. We will be experimenting with melting and cooling chocolate to see how it can change states. We will also be desinging and making our own chocolate bars. We will enjoy a trip to Cadbury World to explore one of the nation's favourite chocolate brands.

  • In English we will be writing chocolate bar advertisements.
  • In Maths we will be learning about Place Value, thinking about numbers beyond 1000 and negative numbers and later moving onto addition and subtraction.
  • We will be learning about the HIndu religion in RE and thinking about the question, 'What does it mean to be a Hindu in Britain today?'
  • Designing, making and evaluating our own chocolate bars and Mayan masks in Design and Technology.
  • Learning about 'states of matter' through experiments and investigations in Science.
  • Composing a Mayan dance in PE as well as swimming lessons this term.

As our class contains the older children we have lots of extra responsibilities. Some of our Year 4 children are House Captains. The children of Oak class also have representatives on the School Council and Eco-School Council.

PE is on Friday afternoons and swimming lessons will take place on Monday mornings.

Quick reminders:

  • Spelling tests and new spellings take place on a Friday
