Welcome to Oak Class!

Mr Taylor is our class teacher in the absense of Mrs Pemberton, who is on maternity leave. We currently have 23 Year 4 children.

Spring Term

Our Topic this term is ‘Marvellous Mountains!'

In English we will write a letter as ‘water cycle experts,’ explaining what happens at each stage of the water cycle, to someone in need of our help! Later on this term we will be writing our own adventure stories based in the Himalayas.

In Maths we will be learning more about multiplication and division as well as fractions and decimals later on this term.

In RE we will be thinking about the key question, ‘What kind of world did Jesus want?’ This sequence will enable pupils to think about the world around them and what can make the world a better place. We will also be looking at what Good Friday means to Christians.

In Topic we will learn about famous mountains and mountain ranges such as the Himalayas. We will be discovering what mountains are and how they are formed. To support this topic, we will be learning about the stages of the water cycle and the important part mountains play in this.

In Science we will be learning about the water cycle

In Art we will be learning about the famous artist Claude Monet and the Impressionist style. In particular, we will be looking at how he painted water in his artwork. Children will be creating their own impressions of water using water colours.

In PE we will be swimming this term and playing some tag rugby.

In PSHE our focus is ‘Don’t rub it in, rub it out.’

Mrs Rice will continue to teach Music and French on a Tuesday.

A few reminders:

Swimming will take place on a Monday morning, please could children make sure they bring their swimming kits for then.

Named water bottles to be in everyday, filled with water.

Named PE kits to be in on Fridays.

Spelling tests happen every Friday.

Homework is set on a Friday, due in the following Thursday. I cannot express how important it is for the children to know their times tables and aim for rapid recall within 5 seconds. I will be sending times table homework home during the Spring Term to help them with this and would appreciate your support.
