Our Class teacher is Miss Zoe Pettit and she is also the Assistant Head Teacher.  Our teaching assistant is Mrs Claire Leaver

Elm is Reception children only this year and there are currently 21 children in Elm.

After a busy Autumn Term, welcome to a new year and new decade at Fladbury. We are looking forward to continuing on our learning journey and having a fantastic term.

Our starting topic this term is Dinosaurs leading onto The Farm but we will go with the children's interest.

Writing: Labelling dinosaurs and animals. Identifying and writing the sounds in words. Beginning to write a caption.

Letter formation: We continue to use Marvin the Monkey to help with our letter formation.

Maths

Helpful Information

Reading

Your child’s book needs to be in school everyday. Encourage your child to sound out words and blend them together. Sometimes it can be useful if they are finding blending tricky, to let them sound out the word and then you model sounding out and orally blend with them. Continue to talk to them about what they have read. Please put a comment in the reading record in their bookbags to let us know you have read with them. Thank you for all the comments so far. It is useful for us to see this feedback.

PE

PE will be on a Wednesday afternoon. We are also lucky enough to have Cricket Coaching on a Friday this half term. Please send in their PE kits named, and these can be kept on their peg in school. We will send them home each half term.

Forest School

The whole of Elm will have Forest School on a Thursday morning. Children can come to school in their old clothes on a Thursday. Please send them to school wearing long trousers and long sleeve tops. No jeans or dresses please.

Remember to send your child with a pair of wellies and a set of waterproofs to keep in school.

Show and Tell

We know that the children love to bring things into show us, such as toys. We ask that they bring them in only on a Friday, when we will have show and tell time. They may not bring things in every week, but it is an opportunity for them to bring something in, if they have been asking you a lot.

Celebration Assembly

Celebration assembly is on a Friday morning at 9.10 in the school hall. You are all welcome to come. We give out a variety of certificates each week. If your child is going to receive the Star Award you will be sent a text.

Safer Internet Day 11/02/20

We shared the book “Penguinpig” (by Stuart Spendlow and boldly illustrated by Amy Bradley) it is a cautionary tale about not always believing everything that you read and see online.

The children enjoyed exploring the story and talking about how to stay safe online.
