Helpful Information

Reading

Your child’s book needs to be in school everyday. Initially share different books with your child, talk about what they can see in the pictures, and predict what happens. It is important that they can use story language. Please put a comment in the reading record in their bookbags to let us know you have read with them. As your child begins to learn sounds and blend these together we will move them onto our school reading scheme.

Reading Record Guide Sheet

PE

PE will be on a Wednesday afternoon. Please send in their PE kits named, and these can be kept on their peg in school. We will send them home each half term.

Forest School

The whole of Elm will have Forest School on a Friday afternoon. Children can come to school in their old clothes on a Friday. Please send them to school wearing long trousers and long sleeve tops. No jeans or dresses please.

Remember to send your child with a pair of wellies and a set of waterproofs to keep in school.

Tapestry

Tapestry is our online learning journal, where we share pictures of your child learning. I will be sending letters out to those of you whom are new to Fladbury, so we can get you up and running.

Class Bear

You will soon be hearing about our Bear. He is looking forward to spending a week with each of the children at home. He will come with a diary to record what he gets up to. It may be things such as reading a book, or meeting your child’s toys.

Show and Tell

We know that the children love to bring things into show us, such as toys. We ask that they bring them in only on a Thursday, when we will have show and tell time. They may not bring things in every week, but it is an opportunity for them to bring something in, if they have been asking you a lot.

Celebration Assembly

Celebration assembly is on a Friday morning at 9.10 in the school hall. You are all welcome to come. We give out a variety of certificates each week. If your child is going to receive the Star Award you will be sent a text.
