Welcome to Ash Class

Recently married Miss B - Mrs Richardson is our teacher.
Mrs Rice will be in the classroom, on a Wednesday morning to teach Science and PE.
There are currently 28 children in Year 1/2.

After a busy autumn term, the children have really embraced the journey through the Arctic; to which we are hoping to finish by the end of this first half term.

To embed our SPaG skills we have three focus texts; ‘The Polar Bears Son’, ‘Ice Bear’ and ‘The Snow Globe
Our artwork gallery will consist of chalk drawings of polar bears and detailed paintings of other polar animals.
Travelling back in time; we will follow the journey of Cpt Scott and Tom Crean, whom are both explorers.
In Geography, the children will work together to compare Arctic towns to the United Kingdom.
Their Design and Technology challenge this half term is to design, create and evaluate their own Inuit style boat.
With Mrs Rice in Science, the children will explore the characteristics of polar animals to find out how they
adapted; along with a science experiment around the properties of ice.
Our RE question involves ‘How and why do we celebrate special and sacred times?’

After February half term, I am very excited to introduce our ‘Great Fire of London' topic.

Any books of interest or relevance to our topic, it would be lovely for the children to share with each other in class.
