Sports Funding

At Fladbury we believe that an all rounded child produces the best results and we encourage every pupil to take part in sport of some sort.  We find that confidence is improved and that the team spirit lives on in the classroom with pupils supporting each other and gaining greater awareness of working together for the good of each other.

Funding is based on an academic year rather than financial.

2014-2015: Funding received £8255

The PE link Governor and Head Teacher have met to discuss ways to spend our PE Sports Funding in a way that will ensure enhanced levels of fitness and quality outcomes on attainment.  Children have completed surveys and questionnaires prior to starting an after school club, with the intention of analysing impact once the club has finished.

£2001 Contributed towards the cost of swimming transport/hire of pool/instructors

2013-2014: Funding received £8240.

£1700.00 has been spent on a high quality experienced coach to deliver PE, dance and games.  Staff have observed this high quality delivery, helping to increase their own personal subject knowledge and confidence in delivering PE.

We support transport to and payment of various cluster sporting activities for different year groups such as Dance Festival for Y3 and 4, Tag Rugby for Y4, Football Tournament for Y4, Cross Country for Y3.

Helm Training has been provided for all staff as the HT was the only staff member trained.  Payment towards the Year 4 children making their own paddles.

We hire the sports field and bellboats as the whole school uses these during the summer term.

Swimming has been implemented across the whole school and Sports funding has been used to contribute towards the cost of hire of the pool, instructors and transport.  4children have received double the amount of swimming lessons and Sports funding has supported this.  Consequently their confidence in the water has improved as has their ability to swim 25m.  Swimming was identified as a particular concern by parents, staff and children as we live so close to the River Avon and Bellboating in the summer term is part of our PE and Fladbury curriculum.

Various after school sporting activities have run throughout the school year, which are decided by the children themselves.  Football, multi-skills and dance have run and sports funding has contributed towards this cost.  We have recently held a taster Karate club session with a high level of interest for starting a club in September.

Purchase of a Maypole – last year Fladbury school performed a Maypole dance at the Fladbury Walkabout Weekend.  This was a borrowed pole and as such a new one needs to be purchased.

Subsidy of Bikeability training for Year 4 children .

Impact of spending:  In questioning the children their own perceived levels of fitness have improved as have their general attitidues to sports.
